Scapex Foundation is registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013 — the not-for-profit company form, which carries the strictest reporting obligations available to an Indian civil-society organisation. That was a deliberate choice.
Why we exist
Scapex Foundation was established with a clear conviction: that the families who need support most rarely face a single problem, and that social development is most effective when it is delivered as one coordinated response rather than a series of disconnected interventions. A child who cannot read at grade level is seldom just a schooling problem. The same household is often short of water, short of income and one illness away from withdrawing that child from school altogether. Single-cause organisations do excellent work, and then hand the family back to every other problem it had.
We are built the other way round — multi-sector by design, working across every field a non-governmental organisation can serve: education, healthcare, skill development, women's empowerment, child welfare, elderly care, disability inclusion, environment, water and sanitation, rural development, livelihoods, animal welfare, disaster relief, and arts, culture and sport. The risk of breadth is doing many things shallowly, and we manage it with one rule applied everywhere: no field enters the portfolio without a defined cohort, a unit cost and a published indicator.
Our commitment to governance, compliance and transparency is what allows partners to trust that breadth. As a Section 8 company we operate under the strictest reporting regime available to an Indian non-profit; our directors are named and personally accountable; our 12A and 80G registrations are in place; and our accounts, baselines and endlines are published whether they flatter us or not. It is on this foundation that we partner with companies on CSR, with institutions on programmes, and with individuals who want to know exactly what their contribution achieved.
How we work
Every block starts with a household listing and a learning assessment. If the baseline says the problem is something other than what we assumed, the programme changes, not the baseline.
Facilitators are recruited from the village they teach in, trained to a fixed curriculum, and paid properly. Panchayat and school leadership sign off on every site.
Midline and endline go on this site whether they flatter us or not, alongside audited accounts and the FCRA/CSR utilisation statement.

Leadership
Scapex Foundation is governed by its board of directors. Under Section 8 of the Companies Act, directors carry personal statutory responsibility for the company’s conduct — which is the point of naming them here rather than leaving a page of anonymous job titles.
Founded Scapex Foundation and leads it day to day — programme design, partnerships, and the organisation’s reporting commitments. A young entrepreneur building the organisation from the first block outward rather than from a national office downward.

Common questions
Yes — Scapex Foundation is registered under Sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act. Every contribution receives a stamped receipt carrying our PAN and 80G registration number, and we file the annual donation statement so that your certificate reaches you.
But the honest answer is longer than "yes". Since FY 2023-24 the new tax regime is the default, and it allows no 80G deduction at all for an individual or HUF. You get the deduction only if you file under the old regime. If you are on the new regime, your donation still does everything it does — it simply will not reduce your tax. We would rather you knew that before giving. The full position is here.
Yes, through three compliant routes — and we state the constraint before a due-diligence team finds it. Rule 4(1)(d) of the CSR Rules requires an independent implementing agency to hold 12A and 80G and a three-year track record; Scapex has not yet completed that record, so our Form CSR-1 registration follows once that record is complete and the number will be published here on issue. Until then a company can implement its CSR project itself with Scapex as on-ground execution partner, work through a CSR-1 registered lead agency with Scapex as field partner, or fund the project as a philanthropic grant eligible under 80G.
Our programmes are designed against every Schedule VII head we can deliver in Gujarat — from (i) health and sanitation and (ii) education and skills to (iii) gender equality and elder care, (iv) environment and animal welfare, (x) rural development and (xii) disaster management. Not yet. FCRA registration requires an organisation to have existed for three years and to have spent a minimum amount on its objects, so the earliest we can apply is three years from registration. Prior-permission route applications for a specific project are possible before that and we will announce any such approval here. Until then we do not solicit or accept contributions from foreign sources.
The board has set a floor of 85% of expenditure on direct programme delivery, with administration and fundraising together capped at 15%. That ratio is reported in the audited accounts each year, and if we miss it we will say why rather than reclassify costs to make the number work.
