Frequently asked questions about Scapex Foundation

The questions donors, companies, volunteers and families ask us most often, answered directly. Where a question has a longer answer we link to the page that carries it in full, with its sources. If your question is not here, write to us and we will answer it within two working days — and add it to this page if others are likely to ask it too.

The organisation

Who we are and how to check us

A non-profit company registered under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, with its registered office in Ahmedabad and its work in Gujarat. Its Corporate Identity Number is U85500GJ2025NPL166916 and its NGO Darpan unique ID is GJ/2025/0834167. A Section 8 company cannot distribute profits to its members; any surplus goes back into its objects.

Do not take our word for it. The CIN can be checked on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal and the Darpan ID on the NITI Aayog NGO Darpan portal, both free and public. Our reports and disclosures page lists every identifier alongside where to verify it. Any organisation that resists this kind of check is telling you something.

It was incorporated in 2025, so it is young, and we say so everywhere rather than implying otherwise. It matters in two concrete ways: our Form CSR-1 registration depends on a three-year track record, and we have no completed programme cycle to report yet. Where our site gives numbers of blocks or children, those are approved plans and are labelled as plans, not results.

Gujarat only. Many organisations of our size spread themselves across states; we would rather do one state properly. The Gujarat page sets out where, and site visits are open to CSR partners and to anyone giving above a stated threshold.

Six programme divisions across twenty-four areas of activity: foundational learning; skills and livelihoods; women and child welfare; health, nutrition and sanitation; environment, water and rural development; and community, inclusion and relief. Each is mapped to Schedule VII of the Companies Act and carries a published indicator. The our work page lists them.

Giving

Donations, receipts and tax

Probably not, and we would rather you heard it from us. Under the new tax regime, which has been the default since FY 2023–24, an individual gets no deduction under Section 80G at all. The deduction survives only for those who opt into the old regime by the due date, and for firms, LLPs and companies taxed at normal rates. Our new tax regime page sets out each case, and the 80G guide explains how the deduction works when it does apply.

Yes. The registration numbers and their validity are being published on the reports and disclosures page, and every receipt we issue carries our PAN and 80G number. We also file the annual statement of donations in Form 10BD, which is what causes your Form 10BE certificate to reach you.

Online payment is not live yet. Write to info@scapexfoundation.com or call +91 99255 22674 and we will share bank details directly. We would rather have no payment page than a half-built one handling other people’s money.

Only up to ₹2,000 if you want it to count for 80G — above that the Income Tax Act allows no deduction for a cash donation, so give by bank transfer or another traceable mode. We do not accept donations in kind against an 80G receipt.

Not at present. Accepting foreign contributions requires registration or prior permission under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, which Scapex does not hold. If you are outside India and want to help, the remote volunteering roles on the volunteer page are open.

Our board has set a floor of 85% of expenditure on programmes. That is a commitment against which we will report, not a result we have already achieved — the first audited accounts will show the actual figure, and they go on the reports page whatever they say.

For companies

CSR partnerships

Yes, through one of three compliant routes, because Scapex does not yet hold a Form CSR-1 registration as an independent implementing agency. Rule 4(1)(d) of the CSR Rules requires a three-year track record for that, and Scapex was incorporated in 2025. A company may undertake the activity itself with Scapex as its on-ground partner, work through a CSR-1 registered lead agency with Scapex as field partner, or wait until our registration issues. The CSR partnership page sets all three out in full.

A defined cohort, a baseline and a cost per outcome agreed before the first tranche; quarterly utilisation certificates; a named programme contact; site-visit access on request; and an annual statement signed by our statutory auditor.

No. The value of employee time is not CSR expenditure under the Companies Act, and the two have to be kept separate in the CSR report. We are glad to host company teams regardless — it simply sits outside the 2% calculation. The CSR fund explainer covers what does and does not count.

Volunteering and help

Getting involved, and getting help

Four roles are open: reading volunteer, mock-interview volunteer, pro-bono professional, and corporate team volunteering. The reading role asks for two hours a week for at least a term, because continuity is what makes it work. The volunteer page has the eligibility, the screening steps and what happens after you apply.

Never. Scapex Foundation charges no fee to volunteer, intern or receive a certificate, and runs no paid placement programme. If anyone asks you for money in our name, it is not us — tell us at info@scapexfoundation.com.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 1098, the free national child helpline, which operates around the clock. For other situations our helpline directory lists nineteen verified numbers for children, women, elders and health, and our Gujarat schemes page explains what each government scheme pays and how to apply. These are free references we maintain; you do not need to be connected to Scapex to use them.

Because the information exists but is scattered across departmental sites, and a family that cannot find it does not receive what it is entitled to. Everything in those guides is drawn from official sources and dated, and we correct errors when they are reported. They carry no paywall and no sign-up.

Please tell us. Use the contact form and choose “Correction to a reference list”. Schemes and helplines change, and a reference page that is not corrected is worse than none.

Within two working days, to every enquiry. Messages route automatically: CSR partnerships, grants and media to Prem Panchal; governance matters to Suman Panchal; everything else to the general inbox.
